Imagine Solo

I am a Textile Artist living in the North West of Ireland. I studied fine Art and spent many years working as a freelance designer in the knitwear and craft industry in Boston, New York and Ireland for both the Irish and overseas market. I create colourful textiles inspired by my local landscapes working instinctively observing the connections between the layers of paint fabric and stitch. I allow my surroundings to develop in my mind where the colours and textures intensify and exaggerates as I paint, layer, stitch then deconstruct by cutting and collaging together to expose the layers beneath.I love to work with reclaimed family fabrics that hold hidden memories. These fabrics may go back many generations each with its own story. These stories are intertwined through the layers of fibre and thread and my interpretation of what is shared with me. I would like to think I express the feelings I get in nature or when listening to the stories shared with me and that my work brings pleasure to others.
